Kings Plant Barn, Stonefields

A modern take on a retail garden centre with a focus on sustainability and interaction with nature.  The building is configured like a typical kiwi shed but is much more sustainable in both its function and the materials it was constructed with. The main structural feature is the primary glue laminated timber portal frames. These are complemented by steel rod braces in the walls and roof.  The feature portal frames have tapered members originating from the distant curved knee and connection detail which is on show throughout the building.
